Conflict

sensing that
someone wants me dead
that someone is me
or... is it?

oh how much
do i hate it when
this darkness descends
to visit

all of the
conflicting standards
by which i measure
my actions

this life is
all too permanent
i cannot issue
retractions

once set down
my course fully laid
no turning back now
reversing

fate beckons
the future before
but ever the past
is cursing
