The Journey


so restless at heart
and longing to travel
in freedom's direction
always just beyond

nothing around here
calls to my interests
all that i see feels
so tired and old

longing to escape
away from boredom
breaking the chains that
so long now have held

on the horizon
my destination
the sun now setting
begs me to follow

will you come with me?
be my companion?
share my adventure?
make it worthwhile?

alone am i nothing
loneliness beckons
help me deny it
but for this one time

then if you desire
once you have sampled
you  may then leave me
and never return

but be not hasty
now i am begging
for in the journey
we may be changed
