Your Guardian Would that I could shelter you, from this cruel world, and hide you away from its coldness. The pain and the suffering, be blocked from your eyes; shielding you with myself, in my boldness. You belong not among us, in your soft innocence; so much evil, for you unfitting. For even I'm dirtied, no longer fit for you, to your judgement, I am submitting. Yet I still do aspire, and continue to hope; rare glances you cast my direction. But please look not closely, so many faults showing, I know I'll not pass your inspection. My existence is this, to be your guardian, always in your shadow, be lurking. Alone and yet hoping, kept warm by your beauty, in love, duty never be shirking. (c) 2002 Robert H. Harrison
