It's so funny You see that boy? That boy right there? He's dying now, But no one knows. He prays for death Its sweet release To make him free Of this sick world He will not hope Its cold deceit Has hurt too much So walks alone You see that girl? That girl smiling? She's lost, confused, And hides it well. So many friends To distract her A busy life That never stops She will not know Just what she wants Until it long Has gone away It's so funny Sadly funny Tragic beauty As they fall down They all press on Never to reach True happiness In all of life They walk alone Even in crowds For no one sees No one can care Remember him? That boy before? He died alone And puzzled all Much to live for Such a short life So needless, sad No one will know Quick to forget Are all his friends Reason unknown He met his end Remember her? That girl before? She yet lives on And friends surround Her emptiness Often consumes She misses him That boy who died She knew him but Could spare no time But he is now Beyond her reach. © 2002 Robert H. Harrison
